Why Kill Em' When You Can Wear Em' Out!

Well, after the boys drove me nuts last night, I decided to wear them out today in hopes that they might get to bed early. Although, EBay was pretty tempting, I decided Splash Zone might be a little more appropriate. Splash Zone is a public pool in a nearby town. (about 10 miles from my house!) It is a super cheap way to waste the day and tire out your kids. The cost to get in is only $4, and the joys of riding the water slide is only $1 more! So for a mere $14 we were on our way to an afternoon of fun.

I highly recommend clicking on the photos to enlarge them

The kids had a blast. The first place they headed to was the water slide. Here they are waiting for their turn in line. Yeah, that was some line. Nathan went first.

I couldn't believe my camera would zoom in this well. After Nathan launched himself, I couldn't tell if this was a look fear, or concern on Forrest's face. But whatever it was, it didn't stop him from following his brother down the shoot.
I stood at the bottom of the slide, snapping photo after photo, in hopes of catching that perfect shot of them coming out of the tube.

But this was the best I could get of Nathan.
And this was all that I could see of Forrest.
I started timing them to see how long it took them to get from the top to the bottom. I had the timing down perfect with this next picture, unfortunately, the kid wasn't one of mine.
There was a short diving board at one end of the pool. Forrest really enjoyed it and was doing some phenomenal dives from it. One of the lifeguards was also a swimming coach and he approached me and told me that my kid was an excellent swimmer. Of course I beamed. I told the life guard that everything he knows about swimming, he learned from his Mom! Look! I caught this super shot of Forrest suspended in mid air.

Nathan was somewhat afraid of the spring board. He approached the end of it with extreme caution. But he is equally as good of a swimmer as Forrest, he just lacks in the diving skills department.

We decided to take a short break from all the water fun, and grab a bite to eat.
Forrest decided the top of the picnic table made for a great place to stretch out and relax.
While Nathan, invented his own idea of a Bed and Breakfast. Except in this case it was Bed and Brunch.
After our bellies were full, we decided to take it easy under the waterfalls, where the boys played with their new friend. The tall boy in this picture has Asperger's Syndrome, a form of Autism. He took right up with me. And followed me around for much of the day. And he very quickly warmed up to Nathan as well.

Our fun ended abruptly when someone found some turds floating in the water on the other side of the fountains. So the entire fountain area had to be shut down to be relieved of it's doo doo and sanitized. I took that as the perfect cue to gather my brood and head home.

Cece,

The best, but Rob read along and at the end said "Okay, that's not cool!" He's not a mom. Scoop it up, throw in a bit of extra chlorine. Done. Do we have to think for everyone? Hey, I don't even have kids but know the drill. And I'm in France to boot. Oh la-la. Terrific post baby and awesome photos. You made the right choice. Ebay sucks!

Cece,
Really looked like great fun, until the end...great idea to wear them out.

We are going to take the travel trailer over by Cadilac Sunday. We are taking the 5,7, 10 yr. old. Somebody shoot me, please!!!
I will try to hide with my book, there will be no internet, no blogging, yes that is a whine!!

Well, I must go see about catching a jet plane...to France...are you ready yet?

What great fun that looks! My favourite part was of your 'new' child at the end of the slide. A shame about the ending, but at least the fountains looked cool!

Did the boys get off to sleep ok?

Love ya honeybunch,

I love the photos. Genius idea for alleviating the urge to kill!

The poop, though, gives me chills. That feeds right into my OCD fears...yours as well?

Oh that does look like so much fun! how did you stand not wanting to get in and join them! Jim and I would have been head first in the water! That does look like it wore them out plenty...but the true test would be once you got home...right?! LOL!

i wanted to say you can kill yours if i can kill mine but i see you came up with a better idea.

i remember once seeing a tiny boy poo in his swimmers, take them off, empty it into the pool, then put them back on......
where was the parent???????
if they werent watching for bad hygiene they should have been watching for drowning.

hope you had a good weekend

Yes, the trip worked. They boys were asleep by 9:30pm. Which is early for them.
Robyn,
I did get into the water. We splashed around under the fountains for quite some time. There is no way I could resist that much fun. And with my love of swimming, are you kidding me? The boys had such a good time, and they were too tired to fight with each other after we got home. So they just played with their new playstation games and then put themselves to bed.
Yes, Leah, it did play into my OCD. I would not have let them back into the fountain area after the "Poo" incident. That is why we left!
I.V. You are an adult, you should now better than to do your business in the pool. Where is your sense of dignity?
Thanks for ratting I.V. out, MJ. I knew we could count on you.
Suze, I am seriously considering listing them on EBay today.
Gig, Good luck with that camping trip.
PJ, wasn't that a great shot of my "new" son at the end of the slide? Did you enlarge it to catch the expression on his face? If I knew his real mom, I would send her that picture, because it was priceless.
Special K,
You know if we kill them, that we would miss them terribly from the confinements of our padded jail cell.
HAPPY DAY EVERYONE! And thanks for all the comments.
