We put our raft into the river at about 10:30 am. We were all very stoked about the trip.
High bluffs were scattered along both sides of the river.
The boys were well equipped to spend a safe day on the river.
No their profiles don't look the same to me. Surly you couldn't tell that is Nathan's dad.
Nathan decided it was too hot to stay in the raft, so he decided to bail out into the river and float along beside it.
Seconds later, Forrest did the same. He loves rocks, so immediately he began searching for specimens to take home.
HB stayed at the bow of the boat. He was our navigator.
The scenery was breath taking.
Yep, that looks like a keeper.
I was all decked out in my tourist garb, even though we were only a few hours from home. Actually, I was trying to protect myself from the sun. Since I'm made of sugar, I melt in the heat.

Turtles were very abundant.
HB caught this little critter and showed it off to the boys.
Isn't he cute. I wished very much to bring him home and keep him as a pet, but I knew he would be happier left here in the wild. So don't worry, we put him back into his home and he was not harmed or eaten.
Some more natural beauty along the river side.
Nathan says, "Peace out, Ya'll.

I just heard the first few bars of Dueling Banjos!
She's such a wise ass.
I love this trip. I feel as if I was in the boat. Were those ferns on the cliff? Wow, the boys had a busy day. The Cafe and the the river. They live very active lives. Glad the turtle didn't suffer, loved seeing him/her. What a cutie. Loved the whole trip. What are we eating for dinner. I'm hungry.
Love you're girlie hat. You and your pink cheeks are sexy! Where are we going next?
XO
Well, I slept almost all day today. I've been ill. I think I have been fighting this all week long, and between the movies, 6 hour float trip and 7 hour birthday party, I've been run into the ground. I think this day of rest has helped, because I am starting to feel a little better.
MJ,
Yeah, dueling bandjos came to my mind too. But I had my muscled husband with me, so I felt safe.
Suze,
Yeah, her wise ass is why we love M.J. so much. Yes, those were ferns on the cliff, and if you look closely, you could see water dripping off of them into the water below. I loved the turtle too. He was super cute, but you know turtles carry Salmonella. We are having fried shrimp for dinner, so I'm sure you won't be over. And yeah, my pink cheeks and girlie hat looked retarted, but at least it helped protect me somewhat. I didn't completely melt.
What an amazing trip. And I did know that turtles carry salmonella! That's one reason we don't have a little feller for a pet. Cece, we seem to have a similar area of neurosis!!!
I hope you're feeling even better now--
xoxo
Oh my gosh, we were cross-posting comments!!
Really enjoyed seeing the River and your adventure!! Great pictures! Loved the hat and your sweet pink cheeks...
Do hope you are feeling better, get some more rest...Blottie's real birthday will be here real soon!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BOYS!!!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BOYS
Reminds me of Huckleberry Finn.
Cecile,
Thanks for the great pictures of your "river cruise". You look most fetching in that sun hat if I may say so.
I hope that you're feeling much better.
Kooka.
Very cool trip. It reminds me of summer vacations up north when my uncle would take my brother and I part way down the Mississippi River. Of course it was in a bass boat to get to a fishing hole, but fun nonetheless.
Pass the cocktail sauce for the shrimp would you please? I recommend the coconut WOPS smoothie for seafood.
Honeybunch,
Some lovely photos there - and I have to say, you look gorgeous in your hat - very charming, and useful at the same time! I also need to cover up in the sun. Sometimes I wish I tanned, but other times, I'm happy with my pale, white, pure skin - makes me feel special!
Glad you enjoyed yourself - it looked like a great day.
Take care, honeybunch!
Peter x
I'm glad you all enjoyed the photos, I'm feeling better, but I did just wake from a nap. I suppose I have caught a summer cold. I lost all of yesterday, and I'm trying to get something out of today, but my energy level quickly drains. So, I'm just relaxing and not worrying about it. Besides, it's 103 degrees outside!!! It's too hot to do anything!!! Thanks for the get well wishes. Cece
Love all the comments. It really was a great trip Cece. Thanks for taking us along on this beautiful, relaxing, enjoying get away. And honey, can you pass me the cocktail sause? I'm starving.
Thanks too for the very special and beautifully written tribute to me and my birthday. I cried like a baby. Thanks for my big puffy, red eyes and for filling my heart with so much happiness and stuff I'm going to have to hire a professional to organize it.
I LOVE YOU SWEETIE!!!
Suze XO
Hummmmmmmmmmmm. Sause. Apparently only if you've had too much.
I just recieved calls from Renee (LA) and Veronica (formerly Carmichael, but now up in the foothills in a town who's name I can't remember!), both old neighbors, and cards!!! Wishing me well and happy birhday. I love both women with all my heart and want to share something Veronica said. She's about my age with a sister about your age. Her sister has been struggling with breast cancer since 1991. She just passed away a few months ago. Her sister reminds me of your sister and Veronica's stuggle, your struggle. Veronica said "Suzanne, she passed with such grace. She was ready and let us all know it was her time and we'd be fine." They're all Catholic, so that might explain acceptance, but I asked about her kids and was told they're having a difficult time. When and if your sister passes please look beyond your grief to the kids and the pets. I know how difficult that will be, but just take a deep breath and do it because in the end it will matter and you will make a difference. Your sister will look down from Heaven and smile. Trust me because if my sisters did that for me I would be beyond grateful. Hearing Veronica's story today made me appreciate yours even more.
With so much love,
Me
Yes, Suze,
Her baby son, Mikey will be hurt so badly by all of this. He has always been her baby. He is such a sweet boy, I will probably have to take him under my wing, and now that he is soon to be a daddy, well, I guess I'll have to take the baby in under my wing too. Theresa had a pommiepoo named Gabe. I have a feeling that when she passes Gabe will become a trucker dog. Because my sister's husband dotes on the dog something terrible. The other two children are so far away, Jason is in Colorado and Adri in Turkey, they both have their families to help them, but Mike is the one I worry about most.
Honeybunch,
Hi honeybunch,
love ya hun,

Cecile!
Just lovely day on the lazy hazy river! How fun...gosh I wish i was out there with you! Just dangling my hand in the water as we float up the river!
The boys certainly looked happy and the turtles are darling! Love all the walls of nature around you! Fantastic trip! Come by and say hi friend! Missing you!
Hugs,
Robyn
P.S. Sorry to hear that you might have a cold! Hope you are feeling better soon!
Cecile,
I researched The River, thru the U.S. nps.gov web-site I was fascinated to learn that it is 135 miles long. Flows eastward through the Arkansas Ozarks and into the White River. What is the OZARKS?
The Buffalo River is connected to the White River, which is connected to the Arkansas River, which is connected to the Mississippi.
Native Americans used to live in the River valley and sheltered under massive bluffs.
Also there is a place near Baker Ford called "The Nars." I would like to visit the River someday after I win the lottery.
Mark (Kooka) X

Mark,
The Ozarks, are what we here in Arkansas call Mountains. It is a very small mountain chain that starts in Central Arkansas close to where I live and runs north in to Missouri. The nars is a large bluff that has been carved out by the river. We are planning to do another float trip either this fall, or next spring, and I hope to visit the Nars then. I shall take photos. The water was too shallow that far North this time of the year, so we were unable to float it. That was some awsome research you did. I grew up on the White River. We lived in a house that was perched on a hill just above the bank of the river. We could sit on our front porch and watch barges travel up and down the river. It was pretty neat living that close to the river. Hope you get to visit our beautiful state sometime. It truly is a gem of a state.
Cecile,
I left you this comment at my place:
"Thank you for the information on the Ozarks. Melbourne has some hills that are called the Dandenong Ranges. They are a 40 kilometre drive from Melbourne.
Things To Do include:
1. Scenic drives through the Ranges
2. Enjoy a picnic at the Fern Tree Gully Picnic Ground or at One Tree Hill or in Sherbrooke Forest.
3. Near the park are coffee shops and restaurants, bed and breakfasts, craft shops, antique shops, gardens and the historic Puffing Billy train from Belgrave to Gembrook.
4. Numerous walking tracks are excellent for short family strolls or longer hikes.
The Dandenong Ranges would be about the same height as The Ozarks."
Hi Cecile!
I tagged you on my blog:

Hi all
The name's Dennis, though most people call me 'Freaky'. :P I'm in my "teens" and kinda lost in the world at the moment...however, I've found the hippie "culture" and discovered that it fits me very well...I'm not trying to fit into it, it just kind of fitted onto me.
I have lots of questions, which hopefully some of the older and wiser people on this board will be able to help answer.
Here's to hoping this board will be able to help me discover more of myself and fuel my beliefs.
Peace out, Dennis from My Online Payday website!
