Good News (well sort of) and a Big Thank You

Things are looking up!

First of all, I want to say THANK YOU!!!!!

You guys are the greatest support group any girl could ask for.



Second of all, we got some semi good news today.

The MRI showed that the lesion in my sister's brain is only in the dural

region (the lining of the brain). It has not yet made it into the actual brain tissue.

The Doctor feels that we have a 3 out of 4 chance to get it into remission with 13 treatments of radiation. She also has a tumor at the base of her skull that is pressing on some nerves. He says that is what is causing all of her facial pain. He believes that the radiation therapy will help alleviate this as well. I am going to approach this with cautioned hope, but I know my sister will approach it with an, "yeah, I've beat it this long, so I know I'll beat it again" attitude. I swear her grace and determination is astronomical. If any of you were to meet her you would be blown away. She truly is a phenomenal person. She is quite a talker. I believe if she saw the Grim Reaper she would walk up to him and ask him how his day was going, strike up a friendship with him in an instant, and get a reprieve on death. Who knows, maybe she already has. All I can say is that when they informed me of this news, I was elated. I just wanted to share the updated news with all of you. Thank you, each and every one for your thoughts, prayers, concern, and most of all your friendship. I must go tidy the house and start supper. I am having a dear friend over for dinner tonight, and I am very much looking forward to it.

My Hero is Dying.

We are but adrift upon turbulent waters in a sea filled with pain.



Today my heart was broken and scattered a million miles.
The words that fell upon my ears rippled through my soul like the shock waves of a rock thrown into the glassy surface of a calm lake.
It is an ugly disease that has caused my anguish. A disease that started as a tiny black cell. This cell has grown into a mass, and has eventually taken over the body of my hero. Silently it creeps through her veins, corrupting and killing the healthy cells and replacing them with the diseased ones. This is a terrible demonic disease whose name is no other than Cancer. My hero has fought a heroic battle that has lasted many years. She has faced this disease with the most amazing grace and spirit. I am humbled when I think of her courage. My only hope is that she can continue to battle with the same determination as before. I am ashamed of the hopelessness I felt today and the fear of my hero dying. Yes, today my heart was broken, for today I learned that Cancer has invaded my sister's brain.

Well, I may just get it after all!

Yeah some more eye candy.
Well, we counter offered, and they countered back. And what they countered back with was on $500 more, so we decided to give. You see, we have been looking for a long time. Every weekend we drive around looking at stuff I've found on line and when we saw this piece we both fell in love with it. It is perfect. We don't agree on something very often. So we were both thrilled when the agent called us back this evening. Now the hard part comes, deciding exactly what house to build. I'm so excited. I have always wanted a log cabin in the woods, now maybe I can have it.
I will try to go out next weekend and take some pictures of the land so that you all can see just why I fell in love.

We Didn't Get It :-(

No this isn't the land, it is just a picture in my sample pictures that came with the computer. I didn't want this post to just be plain text, so I added this little piece of eye candy.
We offered, they counter offered for too much, so we offered higher, but they wouldn't budge, so we told them forget it. We have been searching for land for several months and we know that the land in that particular area is going for $8,000 an acre. They were wanting $10,000 per acre and we just refuse to overpay. But that is OK. I am going Saturday to look at some more land that is actually very cheap. But, I'm afraid that it may be in a flood plain and that may be the reason why. I guess I will find out tomorrow. As for the weather, it was beautiful today. We are suppose to have sunshine the entire weekend, so perhaps I'll get some yard work done. I am working on cleaning my office right now. Thought I would take a breather and bang this post out. I got my boys vacuuming in the other parts of the house. Yes! Child labor. But let me tell you, they aren't cheap. Anyway, thanks for all of your concerns with the weather and the good luck wishes on the land. We aren't in any hurry to purchase, and I feel it is best that we take our time and find a piece we love and can afford. I'll catch you peeps later.

The Wrath of God is upon us. MAKE IT STOP!!!!

Forecasters are warning of more severe weather and flooding across Arkansas Thursday.A storm system and cold front will move across the state Thursday producing thunderstorms. A severe weather outbreak appears likely from Texas through the Mississippi valley, including most of Arkansas. Some of the storms will be capable of producing strong, long-tracked tornadoes in addition to hail and very high winds.The storms will begin moving into the state early Thursday from the west and continue through much of the day.Arkansans are urged to review their severe weather safety rules and remain alert to rapidly changing weather conditions.

I am not sure what it is we have done to upset the Gods so badly, but I really wish we could give up repentance or perhaps burn an offering to make them happy once more. These storms and all of this rain is decimating our beautiful state. Our poor farmers will go bankrupt if this keeps up. I thank my lucky stars everyday that we still have a roof over our head and dirt in our backyard.

On a happier note, my husband found a beautiful piece of real estate today. We he took me to see it when I got home from work and I fell in love with it instantly. The trees on the lot are absolutely gorgeous. We drove home and I told him we had to make an offer on this land. I must have a house there. It already had a pond established on the property, so he is very happy about that. We, of course, will have to make the pond bigger to make him fully satisfied, but I'm O.K. with that, just as long as we do not cut down the beautiful huge pine trees that grace this fantastic piece of land. I was able to picture my house on the land. I could look at the property and I knew what I would plant there. It is 4.5 acres of pure heaven. I am going to try and get some photos of the property over the weekend, so I will post them as soon as I can. We sign the offer letter tomorrow, and then we will keep our fingers crossed in hopes that they either accept, or that they counter offer with another offer that we can afford. So say a prayer, make a wish, dream a dream and cross your fingers in hopes that things work out with the land and the weather.

I'm just happy to be here.

It started with lightening and thunder all around. We felt as if we were lock inside a strobe light. The lightening was constantly dancing across the sky leaving a trail of loud thunder in it's wake. Then the torrential rains began to fall. Then a deadly quiet fills the land. The air is left balmy and humid. An eerie calm fills up the sky. We know the worse is yet to come. Soon, the wind picks up and the sound of a freight train fills your ears. Looming up above is a dark twisting funnel of doom. Dirt and timbers takes the place of air as this deadly mass hurdles toward the ground. It leaves in it's wake a noticeable path of destruction that no one can mistake.

But Mother Nature's wrath has not ended, for after the rain, the water follows. Already the rivers here in Arkansas have reached record highs in 25 years. But after this past week, I am sure there is more to come. Luckily, our home has been spared by both the flooding and the tornadoes. My heart goes out to those who haven't been so lucky.
