Longing for the ocean breeze

It's been a year now since my last visit the ocean. I miss it terribly. I have a deep seeded yearning to visit the ocean every year. It has been a yearly ritual of mine and my husbands for the past 12 years. This year we don't have a vacation to the ocean planned. Since I just recently started my new job, I really don't have enough time built up to take a trip that requires traveling that far from home. And since I hate to fly, flying there is out of the question. So I guess I will just have to gaze longingly at some of the pictures I have taken from my past trips to the ocean. Oh how I miss the smell of the sea. And the sound of the waves crashing to the shore. The musical squawk of the seagulls and the distance glimmer of dolphins breaching the surface of the water to frolic with each other. The ocean calls to me. It is almost as if it is beckoning me home. And oh how home sick am I. So come walk down memory lane with me. Hold my hand as we make footprints in the sand and scour the shore for treasure. Breath in the salty air with me and feel the gentle ocean breeze upon our faces. Close your eyes and imagine we are there. This is the underside of a saw shark. I took this photo in South Carolina at the Ripley's aquarium.
Can you find Nemo?
Stay away from the tentacles unless you enjoy pain and suffering.
Aw, precious moments to cherish forever.

The waves are beckoning to me. Inviting me in for a swim.
The beauty under the sea knows no boundaries.
He lurks in the shadow waiting for the perfect moment to strike.

Modern architecture is amazing.
I wish I was on that boat.
Endlessly searching for a handout.
Paradise here on Earth.
The ocean shore is where I dream to be.

Thanks Cece for this beautiful post, just what I needed!! I love the ocean. I too have always felt drawn to the waves. Always seem to find a sense of peace when there.

Wonderful memories!!

Hi baby. What a beautiful post. I agree with you and Gig completely. The ocean has always given me a sense of peace and calm and I've fortunately always lived near or on it until now. It's funny how nature is what heals us. Like Gig, I closed my eyes and relaxed and it's so funny because I'm supposed to be doing relaxation/meditation exercises every day, but haven't found the right one. Today I did. It's a guided imagry meditation and when I was asked to pick the image, I chose the ocean. Lovely.

Your photos are beautiful and words comforting. When I need to relax I will always visit this post. I felt myself exhale.

I've been looking for a house along the coast again and have actually looked along the coast of N. Carolina. A relative has a lovely home in New Bern, right on the water. I love it. If I end up anywhere near you, just know that you, your family and dog are always welcome. Seriously. My best friend from high school lives in Raleigh (actually Cary) and visits the coast every year for a month long holiday. When I mentioned moving to N.C. she said, "Oh, don't move to be near me, move to the coast so we have a free place to stay!!!" It almost sounds like too much fun. A place on the water with lots of friends and family. So much for the quiet life I crave.

I love you my dear. Oh, as you know Random Chicks birthday is the 15th. If you have time, could you you do the post? I'd hope too, but because of the reroofing life has suddenly become terribly crazy here at Rose Cottage (as if it wasn't before!). If you can't, please drop me an email and let me know so I can pick up your slacky ass. But I need to know tomorrow (Saturday), and not too late! Yes, it's true honey, I'm a stickler for details.

LOVE YOU!!!
Me

*Chases MJ down and give her another wedgie to match the one IV gave her at Random Chick's Birthday party.*

Suze, Gig,
I'm glad you were able to find relaxation in my post. And MJ clean out your spare room, I'm moving in with you.

Hell, I'll give her a wedgie just for fun. I'd love to see those little elf stocking hiked up to her brain! Why? Because she mocked all of us. MJ, just know that if you show up at the party it ain't gonna be pretty honey! But if you apologize, you have a prayer in hell.

And Cece, you didn't even comment about my comment. I'm almost ready to sulk. "Hey, what about me baby!? I knew you before MJ!" *Whipes tears from eyes...*

XO

Suze,
I said I was glad that you could find relaxation in my post. Now if you move to N. Carolina I would have to come visit. N. Carolina is like my most favorite state. And I have been to New Bern. Beautiful little city. I almost got a job two years ago at the little hospital there on The OUtter Banks. But it was pretty windy all the time, so I'm not so sure I could have stood it. Plus, real estate was sort of pricey. Anway, I hope this suffices on commenting on your comment, because I don't like to see big girls cry.

Cece,

the ocean is certainly a place to relax. I love going just to look at the sea.....*sigh*

Great photos and great post....

take care,

What a lovely post! And a great way to take yourself back to the place you love.

I grew up by the ocean and feel like it so much of a part of who I am that I never strayed that far from it...I couldn't think of living anywhere else. I just wish it wasn't so frickin' expensive to live close to the ocean.

I'm not a big girl, I'm only 5'1 1/2". Cut me some slack lady. That must be why I'm a cry baby!!!

The only bad thing about living on the coast is the wind. No not a gentle breeze, wind. I'd actually rather not live right on the coast, but inland a bit, so that I get the benefit of the beach/coast, but not the wind. People who don't live on the beach/coast romantisize it and think it's all wonderful. They never stop to think about the almost constant wind, all the bad hair days, sore eyes and noise if you live on the Strand. Lots and lots of noise.

Honey if I guy (whoops, buy!) a house in NC, you know how welcome you are. New Bern is such a pretty little place, but I agree, way to pricey. Our relatives have such a gorgeous place right on the water because they have a boat, but the price of their house was insane. Yes, I would love to live there, but not at that price. I want to simplify not complicate my life. Just so you know you won't be vacationing in New Bern. The OUtter Banks are beautiful, but you won't be vacationing their either if you come to visit. I couldn't afford it. Well, I could, but I refuse. I've narrowed it down to this: I'm not buying a beach house. Okay, tell the kids "Aunt Suzie's out!!!" Unless of course they don't mind treaking to the beach. I do think I'm going to end up in NC for some reason. That could be our lucky day sweetie!

Thanks so much for your beautiful comment over on Bob's blog. I gave you my shirt by the way. Yup, my skirt too. I'm only wearing flip flops!!! That is one hell of a funny award. I'm still laughing. Who's next?

I love you Cece. Thanks for everything. Bindi's going to be fine because she's in good hands with Rob. RC's birthday party was beautiful. What a great job. Gig will find her way and so will Mark. MJ will become the next Martha Stewart. Peter will end up living in Paris the rest of his life. RC will move to Napa with her family and me (the kitties, dog, gold fish and Rob). Bob will find a pretty gal. You will get a job in New Bern and it will pay so well you will be able to afford the real estate! Yup, things are workin' out.

Love you baby,
Moi
